His nature: He is determined to start a new life. He has learning abilities and strength

In Ukraine, Waldemar worked as a welder. He was a member of the German minority. After his resettlement, Waldemar had to live of social welfare until he finally found an employment in the hydraulic engineering industry. Even though he spends the entire day doing strenuous physical work, Waldemar needs his garden, which he can cultivate after work and on the weekends. The garden gives him a feeling of permanence. Waldemar: "We have worked with the earth all our life. Here in the garden, we are at home."
Waldemar W., 65 years old, born in Kazakhstan, lives in Germany since 2001.
Her nature: He has a desire to get to know new things and a heart full of optimism.
His goals: To make new friends, to experience something new, to be in the garden.
After his resettlement from Kazakhstan he especially misses his friends and his huge family. Gaining new ground in Germany was not easy but step-by-step he succeeded a little more. Waldemar has a close connection to his garden. In Kazakhstan it was a necessity in order for him to survive – in Berlin it is a necessity in order for him to survive. Waldemar tells us: "If we would not have had our garden in Kazakhstan, we would have starved to death."
Without his garden Waldemar feels lost. When he heard about the founding of the intercultural garden in Berlin-Köpenick, he immediately applied for a piece of land – and was overjoyed when he received one.
