PrinzessinnengartenBerlin-Kreuzberg › Prinzessinnengarten
The Prinzessinnengarten, operated by the nonprofit GmbH Nomadisch Grün is a mobile organic and social urban farm located at Moritzplatz in Berlin. Since the summer of 2009 it has devoloped on a 6000-squaremeter vacant lot in close cooperation with the Prinzessinnengarten’s neighbors. Here not only local food is produced, there is also an intercultural exchange, biological diversity is cultivated and technical training in do it yourself initiatives are developed.

The Prinzessinnengarten sees itself as an educational garden and as a tool to strengthen and energize the low-income neighborhood in this area.

Urban gardeners are social gardeners
The joint re-appropriation of old cultural techniques, such as the cultivation and processing of vegetables, can bring together diverse people and contribute to mutual enrichment and learning from each other. There is a lot to discover in Prinzessinnengarten: old varieties, the work of bees, organic farming, healthy and creative preparation of seasonal items, up to the impact of climate on urban organic and local food production. Together we want to acquire skills and knowledge - ranging from basic cultural techniques such as horticulture and cooking, to questions of adaptation to climate change and sustainable urban development.
